Hi I am looking to buy a car , which would be better, as I’ve already bought a 2nd hand car in October and it turned out to be a heap of rubbish bought from an English person with low mileage 😞 took to scrap yard beginning of last week. So I’m worried about buying 2nd hand again, Just want to buy something that is going to last a few years, thank you

Without knowing how much you paid, the faults or the age of the second hand you bought it's a bit difficult, but a brand new car should always be better than a used car of the same make, model etc. You always have a warranty to fall back on, but buying a used car from a dealer will give you a warranty too.

As an ex mechanic I've bought my fair share of what I "thought" were good 2nd hand cars only for them to turn out to be bad.

Buying a used car online seems to be catching on in Spain now, with Flexicar much like Cinch or Carshop in the UK (both of which I can recommend).

Still haven't figured out the difference between the headline price and the higher 'spot price'  though.

I bought from a local dealer though with good experience after an initial problem was sorted out under the 12 month warranty that came with it. https://www.jonenseautomocion.com/.

If you can afford it buy new, as mentioned above a new car is covered by a warranty and for a few hundred euros it can be covered for up to 5 years

Four years ago I was confronted with the same problem. I visited a few dealerships for an ex demo. In the end there was not much difference in price between new and ex demo. I was offered a good deal on a Seat and an even better deal if I took it on finance. I'm sure they made more on the finance than the car but it was not excessive.  Four years free servicing including oil etc. One years free insurance and four years extended warranty. Having just checked the resell value it seems that the car is worth roughly what I paid for it. Now for my 1st ITV.
