Hi.

We own a property just outside El Campello, between Campello and Mutxamel. The property is pre installed with ducting and pipework/wiring up to the roof terrace. We have tenants in the property and are interested in installing the correct units into the ducting int the bathroom ceiling.

The tenants have asked about fitting an inverter unit in just the lounge, but subject to the cost difference it may be more cost effective to fit the correct unit.

If anyone is familiar with the area, the property is on Dorado Country Club near Bonalba Golf. I was wondering if it would be possible to get a ball park installation cost. Obviously I understand that to get an exact cost a survey of the property would need to be carried out.

Many thanks in advance

Hi,

We have a couple of companies who are recommended on our sister forum TalkQuesada and they may be able to give you an idea of costs. I think they may also cover your area but please check with them:

This one below is run by a guy called Steve Birkett and he's very helpful and you can contact him on email on: [email protected]

His website is: http://www.electrician-air-conditioning-costa-blanca.com/

The other one is 'Select Air Conditioning' – Run by a guy called Mark White - He has good reports on TalkQuesada too. Email: [email protected]

Website: http://www.selectaircon.com

Hope this helps. (If you do contact them please say you heard about them from Jan from the Costa Blanca &TalkQuesada forums)

Thanks.

Jan.

hi there,

I'm just wondering how you got on with your airco?  We may be in a similar position... the house we are planning on buying has what they called 'pre-installation' for airco... the estate agent keeps telling us that it will be cheap to install airco...but not 100% convinced of that...and would like some serious expert opinion on it!

Pre installations don't really affect the price of an installation. If anything they can cost slightly more as condition of the pipework and drainage is unknown, plus installing the interior unit usually turns out more fiddly joining the pipes.

Hi. We paid around 2200 euro. This included thermostats in each room for better control. The cost is higher for pre-installed but not individual units in each room with separate boxes outside. Pre-installed better with 1 unit controlling all. We bought the house new but installed about 10 years later. The person who installed it was very good and did it in our absence. A friend in Campello checked all was ok for us.

Thanks for letting me know this.... completely the opposite of what we were told by the estate agent...

Thanks very much for this information.... now we have to try and find someone who will give us some quotes for it !! We are really not planning on having the whole house air-co'd but someone suggested getting 2 external units which would have the capability to manage 4-6 internal units if we ever wanted to have the airco in each room.... but I'm finding it hard to figure out the cost for this!! thanks for your help!

The units you mention are called Multi splits and save on the number of outside units but tend to be dearer than individual units. Plus,if there comes a time when one unit needs replacing then they all might.

To give you a ball park figure, for inverters A+++ Hot and Cold

Bedrooms are usually around €570 and a lounge about €600.

including installation

If the property has ducting installed, then a central unit starts around €1600

Thanks for the information... the person who recommended the multi-splits suggested it as a long-term idea.. ie if we're only using the place as a holiday home, we may just install the airco in the living room and our bedroom...so based on your figures that would be about 3200euros?  I don't know whether any of the splits have this possibility - but if we have gaz central heating we are planning on not using the 'heating' of the airco units as from what I've understood electricity is more expensive in Spain than here in France... thanks for your help...

Sorry just to clarify would these costs include VAT? From what I've read I'm guessing that's about 20%?  thanks for clarifying..
