Hi

We bought in May 2017 after a lengthy search on internet etc, then coming out to view with Homes espana'.

No pressure sales, just good knowledge & information. After 2 days of viewing areas & properties, we purchased in Playa Flamenca

in an area called La Florida (al andalus 1)   The area suits us with no car as we can walk to everything we need locally ie, shops, entertainment, bars etc   Saturday market is 25 mins walk,  Boulevard is 35 mins, & beach is 40 mins. All flat walking (no hills)

We have made some great friends in the last 18 months, meeting up with most on our trips out.

On our walks out we have looked at many other areas around us, still feeling that we made the correct choice that ticked all our boxes.

Any info please PM us.

I would never buy a y puse in a area I really dont know. I would recommend to rent for short time first to try the area you think you want to life and would be perfect to rent the house you are thinking to buy.

You don't know people arround, or dogs barking or style until you are there a while.

You could offer extra money to rent in the house you want to life to show you are really interested for short time. If you chose correct it will be just extra money and if you don't like you will save a lot of money and  more repentance.

Hi,and many thanks for your reply and information.yes we have looked at playa flemeca,Cabo roig and la zenia in our searches on line.the information you supplied is what we really need.on the ground information.if you don’t mind we have a few more questions.did you stay in a hotel when you visited,is a few days enough.we were thinking of a week.Did homes espana drive you to your various chosen properties. We are glad you mentioned they were not pushy because we have found a few on line now who are.Did you contact them to work for you .People are advising us to rent first and then decide but we want to get on with it and hope that we gather all the proper information and purchase.Forgive me but one final question, when you purchased did you negotiate with the seller ,say make an offer and see what happens. As we are cash buyers we would be hoping to negotiate a good price. Is there room for that .Again many thanks and sorry for all the questions. But as you know information is king. Thanks john

Hi John

We stayed in a holiday apartment for about 5 days. We met someone from Home Espana at the "A Place in the Sun" show in London. When we arrived in Spain they picked us up from where we stayed and took us to see the properties. We saw the one for us and he took us to a bar to discuss our decision. We were cash buyers. We put in an offer and our guy put it forward. We offered 5000 euros off asking price and it was accepted. We probably could have got a bit more off but we really wanted it and it hadn't been on the market very long.

Hope this helps, good luck

Deb

Golden Rule - get yourself a good independent Solicitor (ideally by recommendation), as Spanish property related law is complex - do not sign / pay without having pre-Consultation. Resist the urge to go ahead ' because we fly home tomorrow' ..Jim.

Hi, no my point was - people go out on a short viewing trip , fall in love with a property then, because they are due to fly home , they commit to a property without taking a Solicitor's advice because they don't have time to. My recommendation is to have a chat with a recommended Solicitor when you arrive then view - he/she will have pointed out the risks and you have someone to call before committing , hope that makes sense ....Jim.

When I said know the area I mean thinks like what happened today in some areas of Torrevieja:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0i6uMBIycjo

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pESiwKtdB-o

Torrevieja is extremely flat and the sewerage is very poor in a lot of areas. If rains a lot there is 20cm of water everywhere. Noone can get hurt because it is not deep but.....

Of for example the road 332 is very very busy in summer and almost every morning arround 8am:

https://www.google.es/maps/dir/Hospital+Universitario+de+Torrevieja,+Carretera+CV+95,+Torrevieja/Carrefour,+Ctra.+Crevillente,+Km.+34,+400,+03180+Torrevieja,+Alicante/@37.9767618,-0.7194891,14z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0xd63079460bd82bf:0x547b6053c840fc25!2m2!1d-0.7158497!2d37.9633192!1m5!1m1!1s0xd63a9ee03b8f79d:0xf80c0acab242ff36!2m2!1d-0.6861364!2d37.9913928!3e0

Noone selling you a house is going to tell you the bad things about the area (it is normal), so you need to discover yourself.
