Hi have a house in Albatera with lemon trees and today I saw a snake going into one of the bird boxes , did get a good look but was wondering if anyone had any ideas about what sort it could be and if it’s dangerous. I had been picking up lemons earlier and now feeling very apprehensive about what might be lurking.

It's probably a ladder snake which is completely harmless and he'd probably been sunbathing.

The vadt majority of snakes in Spain are harmless. They also do a good job in rodent control.

We recently had builders in who killed some large snakes unbeknown to us and we've been overrun with mice ever since.

Just make a noise and they'll give you a wide berth.

Anyone know what kind of snake this is?

Not a great photo, but didn't want to get too close!
