Hello everyone I hope you are well

I’ve only just discovered the weather you’ve been experiencing in Spain I’m currently in process of purchasing a property in Albatera and my furniture is stored at monster movers in Dolores I’m panicking about the property and my furniture does anyone know if these areas have been affected by the weather I’d appreciate any response

All the best

It depends where you are , I'm in the Campo of Albatera and apart from a few soggy fields, all is ok now but the streets in town were rivers yesterday. We've just got back from Alicante airport, all fine there but you can't get on the AP7 at Albatera due to flooding at the roundabout, only lorries and 4X4s are getting through. There has been flooding in Dolores but I don't know exactly where.

"can't get on the AP7 at Albatera due to flooding at the roundabout"

I presume you meant A7 not AP7 but if as you say the roundabout is flooded surely that means you can't get out or Albatera at all by that route never mind onto the A7?

I drove out of and back into Albatera via San Isidro yesterday afternoon and the only seriously flooded part of the road then was opposite the garage and truck stop just where the slip road onto the A7 peels off, I would guess then that water was up to 6" deep.

There was some minor flooding on the approach to the roundabout where the slip road off the A7 joins but the roundabout itself was clear.

Sorry, yes, the A7, when we went through at about 7.30 pm there was water all over the approach road from Albatera, on the roundabout and the fields either side and we were not allowed to proceed, there were crowds of people sat on the roundabout watching proceedings, lots of parked up cars and the police turned us around and we went along the N340 to Crevvi and got on there. On the way back, we came off at the Albatera turning and it was still flooded, the worse being between the A7 and the roundabout with 3 conked out cars and lorries managing to get past slowly and the police had blocked the road from Albatera just past the garage workshop just down from the lights so there was no way out of Albatera that way.

Hi Thomas, I'm just above the Via Pista on the La Murada side of the Albatera/Frailes road and the garden was flooded for a good while and we found we had some leaks in the roof which hadn't leaked previously but all fixed now, just a few damp patches left. All the best for your move.

Tell everybody this please:

Hi

FLOOD DAMAGE and INSURANCE

CARS and insurance for flood damage

Just in case you do not already know, if you have fully comprehensive cover on your car you are paying a small amount each month to the Consortio. The Insurance will not pay for your car repairs for the Gota Fria but the Corsortio will. You need to make a claim with the Consortio. We only found this out when we were caught out in the last Gota Fria earlier this year when our car was water logged. The Consortio paid out - we had no problem.

HOUSE and insurance for flood damage.

Exactly the same applies as above. If you have House and Contents insurance you are also paying a small amount each year to the Consortio, so you make your claim with the Consortio - as same as you would for the car above.

Need any further advice come back to me and I will look up details of our claim with the Consortio so that you have telephone numbers, addresses of where to claim etc., BUT your Insurance Company should help you with the relevant claim - must add here ours did not help us, but another insurance company did. Hence we changed insurance companies when the car insurance ran out.

Good luck, Remember, if you are insured you are covered, do not accept that you are not, you are paying the Consortio every month so you are entitled to claim.

If you are not insurance, sorry I cannot help you.

Good luck

Andrea Murphy
