I have just seen this on another forum. If the expected announcement this week doesn't confirm an agreement to exchange driving licences then this may be a solution for others whose registrations got lost by DGT.

"I just wanted to say I was one of the many people who submitted my details to 060 before the cut of date to later find out they had no record of my intention to exchange and was to told to do a test or wait for the outcome to exchange .

After the announcement end of April that we can no longer drive on our uk license I started my complaint to DGT

I went to the office on 10th May with a valid medical, a copy of my telephone bill showing the date and time I called 060 to log my Intention, my Padron , I went with a translator who explained I had called and the lady tapped away at the computer to tell me again you are not on the system we then produced the phone bill and again the lady tapped away and miraculously she found my details …. The translator then went on to argue my case saying how did you find it as a minute ago you said it wasn’t there after a lot of arguing they decided to take my medical printed out my register intent details , I paid the fee and she said it will not be agreed you are to late and they will contact me .

I still had my uk licence and like everyone was not able to drive while they investigated.

My translator contacted them 2 weeks later by email as we had not had any update to be told to register my complaint via the electronic certificate, with proof I was told I was not on the system apparently all calls are recorded and you can request a copy of the call .

So after getting the digital certificate we then again explained the situation I also them provided the 2nd call on my phone bill showing that I called again and spoke to 060 this was after I received my TIE and this is when staff told me no you are not on the system, I also provided the details of the appointment I had booked to do the exchange and also the call I made to do the medical all on the phone bill

Today I have received an email confirming I can exchange my license and have been provided with the temporary document allowing me to drive from today .

This was allowed due to the evidence I had provided and they had done the appropriate checks and confirmed due to extraordinary circumstances I can exchange my license .

I wanted to say to anyone who may have also been in the same situation as me if you have phone evidence to log a complaint."

It is somebody's personal experience, why would you need to know the source Darro?

Hardly personal if you read it on a (presumably) public facing forum and it would appear that the author published it for the benefit of others.

If you can't - or won't - quote the source then it puts in question the validity of the tale.

Oh Darro, take it as you wish. Believe it or not I really don't care.
