Hi does anyone know if we can bring some tools over to do some DIY whilst we are in our property in Spain. We Non residents and will be taking them back. Any advice / info would be very much appreciated. I am unable to find any information anywhere .

Usually professional equipment is admitted on application free of taxes and duties on a temporary basis (importacion temporal). Get all relevant detials from your nearest Spanish consulate.

We brought over electrical tools, dyson vacuum and half a carboot full of various items(all over 6mnths old) in August without any problems by ferry. I had created a list of items in Spanish with approx 2nd hand values and it wasn't even used only being asked if we had a pet. After a no, we were waved through. You are entitled to a duty free allowance of €430 to cover "gifts" if travelling by sea or air but by road only €300 by road, as per Spanish government website. Our total didn't even come to €400, so felt confident if challenged. I also brought a bag full of foodstuffs ie. Catering sizes of pickles, chutneys, sauce pkt mixes, chocolate, custard powder(I like to make trifles) instant gravy, but vegan not meat, then add a stock cube (sell them here) but not the instant gravy. No meat or dairy. Miss cheese we always brought before Brexit. We are not near a British shop.

Hope this helps you.

Regards

Pauline

Thank you for your help. First time after brexit travelling via car with our dog through France so a bit daunting as not sure what to expect. What about personal food for the journey,  food for our dog.... 🤔🥺 well, hope things go smoothly 🤞

Why not stop at one of the eminently civilised French supermarkets as soon as you arrive. If arriving Calais, there is the enormous Auchan at Sangatte just down the road or an equally large Carrefour at the Euro shopping centre,  They both haveevery type of food you can imagine.

Yeah ,We might have to. Just wanted to get going without having to stop, with our dog at the back,  don't really fancy doing shopping as  we have a long journey ahead of us😄

Petula, we came down at the end of June via Eurotunnel with 2 dogs, we didn’t bring anything that was on the not allowed list, we weren’t checked at all, went to Carrefour and bought dog food for the journey.

Came down again at the beginning of October again via Eurotunnel with 2 dogs who now hold Spanish dog passports. This time we brought tinned dog food, butter, and some cheese, no checks at all,

Next time we’ll start bringing all the dog food for the time we’re in France and Spain.

hope this helps

Thank you for your reply. I guess its going to depend on the luck of draw.  Our dog also has a Spanish passport. Had his rabies done in the UK ( 3yearly one) needs reboosting  next year, so hope they'll accept this as was done prebrexit.Vet( UK and Spanish ) said it is fine🤔 Might just take a bit of food for him and hopefully they'll not confiscate. 😆
