Hi does anyone know any experienced helpers or gestoras in the Albatera area which can help with a residency/NIE application, we are still in the U.K. but plan to come out next year permanently. We keep getting conflicting advice some say you can’t get on the padron until your a resident and some say you have to be granted residency /NIE before going on the padron

I have an EU passport wife is U.K. passport just looking for experienced help and advice

Usually you need to be resident before you can register on the padron, but every council has it's own procedures. Your wife will benefit from EU privileges.

Any Gestor in the area should be able to help you, there should be nothing complicated with your applications.

The facts are very simple, you cannot legally be on a padron until officially resident.

Some town halls will issue a strictly limited padron for the express purpose of a residence applications so if you're thinking of moving to the Albatera area that's where you need to seek local advice.

I suggest you contact Live Spain for Life.

A couple of sites that may be of help for your new life are as follows:

Citizens Advice Bureau Spain, for bureaucratic stuff and

N332 for anything to do with driving in Spain.

Hi Glenn,

You'll need a Padrón certificate for your residency application, so go to the Ayuntamiento (Town Hall) where you're planning to live and explain that you need it for a residency application - they'll issue a Padrón with a 3-month expiry.  Once you've obtained your residency, go back to the Town Hall with your residency documents to update your Padrón.

Non-residents who have no intention of becoming resident in Spain must not register on the Padrón.

Kind regards,

Kim
