We are thinking of moving to Albatera area.

How cold aprox in winter, coldest months?

How hot in summer, hottest months?

What environmental illnesses?

What is the crime rate?

Are there many break ins, burglaries?

What are the downsides to living in the area?

Many expats?

Any activities for retirees?

Are dog kennels expensive?

Is WIFI good reception? What do most people use for getting internet / TV?

Thanks for your help Mel n Mic

Average about 7 in the night and 20 or more in the day when the sun is out

Average 35-40 in daytime during July and August may 50 on the odd day

Crime rate much lower than UK

A few break ins but again not as the UK

No downsides, no paying to park your car anywhere here and not much traffic, we are about 30 minutes from sea, airport etc.

A few hundred expats live here

Dog kennels much cheaper than UK as with most things apart from golf and second hand cars

In most areas here fibre optic is available and about half the cost of UK

We live in the Campo in the foothills of the Crevillente range and we have the whole of the Vega Baja laid out in front of us so the views are stunning.
From Albatera, taking the Frailes road, we live to the left but there are many more properties to the right, towards Crevillente and these properties have more services such as mains water, sewage and fibre optic.

Albatera itself has most of what you will need, supermarkets, a mercachina, banks, bakers, ferreterias, vets, cafes and a 24 hour emergency department.  Being just off the A7 there are good transport links to Murcia, Alicante and the airport and the nearest train station is in San Isidro.

Daytime temperatures, in the shade, tend to be mid to high 30's during July and August with a few days edging over 40 with nightime temps in the mid twenties or just above.

In the winter most days are still sunny with temps in the teens to low 20's but once it goes down you will know it and often it will be warmer outside than in as most houses are built to keep the sun out. You will need decent heating and with the cost of electric sky high at the moment then storage heaters seem to be a good bet although it is cheaper to heat with air con than to cool. There is very little insulation in what are mainly single skin construction houses.

We love it here and having been here for 4 years we haven't found an area we would prefer to live in. We get less mozzies than down on the plain and there is no risk of flooding where we are. If we are in need of a bit of England then there is Tesco in Quesada and Overseas Supermarket in Torrevieja along with English butchers and bakers.

No, it is the countryside generally. If you follow the CV873 from Albatera towards Hondon de Los Frailes you get to the Via Pista (canal road), to the left it is mainly Spanish with just a few houses and to the right it is a bit more built up and more international.

Thanks for all your comments. Just one thing. Do people suffer with allergies or sinus problems, is it very dusty?
