Good morning

Does anyone out there know how long a Padron lasts in Albanilla region of Murcia I have started to learn  Spanish but I’m definitely in the early stages I applied for my Padron and I have had a visit from the police to check all ok now I need to collect my Padron however I’m confused as I have had conflicting information regarding the length of time your Padron has as on my husbands there is no expiry date and on my friends.

If someone knows please can you post and let me know

Kindest regards

Anita

Hello,

I'm sorry but this not a reply to the ladies question above, this  needs posting seperately with a new heading to enable you to get a response

Hi Mart,

EU citizens have to renew their padrón every 5 years, non-EU citizens have to renew it every 2 years, so unless alternative arrangements are made during the Brexit negotiations, UK citizens currently have to renew it every 5 years, but that will become every 2 years from 1 January 2021.  The exception to this is if you change address, in which case you will need to renew it as soon as possible. If you need to use it for an administrative process, such as TIE/residency application, you will need to obtain an updated certificate, as authorities won't accept a certificate that is more than 3 months' old.  Ordinarily that would require a quick visit to your Ayuntamiento (Town Hall), but in the current climate of Covid-19, you'll almost certainly have to make an appointment with your Ayuntamiento first to do this.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi John,

As you've posted your query in this thread, rather than starting a new one, people who live in Albatera may miss it.  Whilst I don't live in Albatera, I have recently had to get a new Padron certificate and from my own experience, our Ayuntamiento (Town Hall) is asking residents to make an appointment.  I'd suggest calling or emailing your Ayuntamiento in the first instance:

Tel:      965 485 000

email:  [email protected]

Kind regards,

Kim

"If you need to use it for an administrative process, such as TIE/residency application, you will need to obtain an updated certificate, as authorities won't accept a certificate that is more than 3 months' old"

I have to disagree with that statement as the padron we provided was way back from 2018 yet was accepted without comment.

This was about 5 weeks ago.

I also sneaked a photo of the notice stuck on the screen in front of the persons dealing with us which in their own words says:

certificado empadronamiento (solo) si cambia de domicilio)

certificate of registration (only) if you change your address)

Hi Ernie,

You don't say whether you refer to your original residency application, but as you mention "5 weeks ago", I assume you're talking about a residency to TIE swap.  However, in that case, Jim's guide says:

"6.  Padron?

Unless you've changed your address recently, you don't need this, but there's a comma missing in the instructions which leaves the requirement open to interpretation.  To be safe, you could take an original and a copy of a padron less than 3 months old, but I wasn't asked for one."

If you believe Jim is incorrect, perhaps you would let him know, as I understand he is no longer on this forum.

Kind regards,

Kim

Just  to add my two penne'th here I have just applied to get my TIE.  I had to get a new one as my original was 3 yrs old.

Under the new requirements I had to make and appointment at the town hall, they will not see you without one as I found out even though the place was empty!!

Got it next day and was in and out in five minutes.

An old Padron will not be accepted. For what it takes I recommend you just get a new one.
