I was hoping that someone may be able to help. I recently received a bill for 1000 euros for three months of water. Enormous bill. I am with Agualia right now and wondered if anyone was having issues with them and if there is perhaps a better company to go with.
Does anyone know the comparisons between various water companies and which you have found to be the best? Thanks.
I´ve seen similar posts on other forums. Most seem to have been caused by leaks. Check if the meter is going round with the house supply off. Could be a leak between the meter and the house. A small leak from a loose joint can waste large amounts of water over a month. Another possibility is someone is stealing water if access is possible while you are away. Might be worth contacting the company to see if they can offer help. They have instruments to listen for leaks.

I've never come across the situation where more than one water company serve an area.
It's unusual for meters to go faulty, but there's a slight possibility this could be the cause. As Brian says, it sounds like a leak, so do as he says and see if the meter is going round with the stop-cock at the entry to the house turned off. If it is, then also turn off the stop-cock on the meter, at which point the meter should stop, and you then know it's leaking between meter and house.
If you've got a swimming pool, and this has auto-fill, turn this off and see what happens at the meter.
You could try to localise a leak by putting a metal rod on the ground, put your ear to that, and see if you can hear anything.
Problems between the meter and the house are your responsibility.

Thanks for the help. My parents have gone by the house and it seems that there is no leak. They have been there a week and the dial has moved 7/10 of a cubic meter. The company that I am presently using is Agualia. They are going to investigate further. I’ll let you know what happens. In the end, I appreciate the information you have given me. Thank you.
