Looking for advice. I'm in full time employment complete with contract and tax is paid by my employer. Is there any reason for me to do a tax return as have no other income from pensions ect. All I know is an embargo has been placed on my bank account but received no notification about it. Any information would be a great help as the bank is not interested.

Have spoken to the bank and they just shrugged their shoulders saying nothing to do with them, very frustrating

Hello:

In the embargo should have a name where it comes from. There is few reason for embargo, taxes, speed penalty, court. The bank can not offer you more info that the info that shows you the document that you can see online.

I agree with the other posters. Your bank should, at least, tell you who placed the embargo.

The two commonest reasons are the bank themselves, because they're not seen from you whatever proofs they must have - e.g. passport or proof that you're a resident; and the other is the tax office.

If you only have one source of income, and that income is less than €22,000, then you don't need to file annual tax returns. However, you should file, or have filed, one for your first year of tax residency. As an employee with just the one taxed source of income, all you need to do during the declaration period (April to June) is to access Hacienda's website and confirm that the data they have is correct.
