Hi I have been looking on Stay sure site which many on this site recommend and yes does cover if catch covid 19 before or during holiday but it states policy does not cover if FCDO state not to travel unless essential.

That means nothing is covered.

We have a holiday home but believe that is still not considered as essential travel.

Can anyone advise me please.

Thanks in advance, have a husband desperate to get out to Altea to check on our holiday home.

Hi Moira

Take a look at a Company called Battleface - they cover travel against advice. We used them on a previous trip while we were organising our relocation.

Cheers Sharon

I too checked  Staysure for travelling during this pandemic . I ‘phoned and went through all of our personal medical/ health issues and finally was quoted £341 for a 15 month( annual)policy.

I decided to hold off before paying in the hope that the Foreign office would withdraw their advice. The policy does cover us for travelling when advised against travelling  A few days later, I received an email asking why I hadn’t accepted their offer of travel insurance snd giving us a 15%discount on the total.

So, in answer to your query,  STAYSURE WILL COVER YOU as an add on.  Give them a call.

I am confused🥴. I have the 15 month travel insurance with Staysure and have rung twice with this question and been advised on both occasions that there is additional cover to take into account FCDO non essential travel (at an additional premium)  but if the FCDO advice is in force before your travel date, you are not covered.  I really don’t know why they say they can give this cover if it’s conditional on FCDO current advice.  My brain hurts☹️

Try Globelink.co.uk.     I will never touch Staysure again and am currently involved with The Ombudsman about them and they are under investigation.  I took out their highest level of annual travel insurance in September 2019, way before covid was even know about and they refused to pay out on anything.  They did offer 15 months for the price of 12 but with no travel taking place that was ridiculous.

Heard a lor of people who have had problems withStaysure and Battleface when it comes to making claims, too much in their small print to avoid payouts, what they say and what they do are two different things plus they are expensive.

Be careful !!!
