I wonder if anyone has experienced a similar set of circumstances when renting an apartment locally in Albir?

I have to say my experience was not exactly " memorable " and am curious if this is in anyway a common experience?

I saw the apartment on the internet, arranged an appointment with the agent, agreed the rent but was told it was not possible to view as it was presently occupied. The internet video and " virtual tour " was impressive and I was asked to provide a 200 euro deposit and a further 375 euros not later than 7 days prior to taking up occupation, with full balance on arrival. I said this was a little unreasonable as it was essential to inspect. Reluctantly the agent accepted this and I was told to send 200 euros direct to the agent's private bank which curiously was French. On arrival ( Saturday)  I was asked to provide payment in full but was informed debit cards were unacceptable and only cash was acceptable and the agent's representative took me to a cash point where ( fortunately) only a proportion of the demanded rent could be obtained. No receipt was given. I was told full payment had to be made on the following Monday---the agency being closed on Saturday and Sunday.

Superficially the flat looked OK but on closer inspection it had obviously not been cleaned, pillows were heavily stained, cooking utensils were dirty, the condition of the toilet was deplorable, neither TV not radio worked and if this were not enough the lighting was faulty and required repair. It was necessary to fully clean before reasonable occupation could commence.

In short I asked for the rent to be reduced but this request was rejected in a torrent of abusive language and told that if I didn't come up with the entire balance the Guardia Civil would be summoned to evict me. ( naturally this was an empty threat)

I fully cleaned the flat before departure but decided to vacate early in view of my experience.

Sound familiar to anyone out there?

The agent involved took no ID --- whether identity card or passport -- which I always believed was obligatory?

Can you name the agent, as a warning to anybody else who might be looking for a rental property too?

My Abogados have advised me to avoid revealing their identity as this might prejudice legal proceedings due to commence if the firm fails to reply to a request for return of part of the monies I paid them which expires at 4pm today. My Abogados also plan to ask La Tributaria to launch an Investigation into the firm's suspected illegal activities.

I intend to update once matters are underway.

I am now in a position to name the letting agents referred to in my previous posts.

Their identity is:

INMO BLAU, AVENIDA DEL ALBIR 8, 03581 ALBIR.

My advice to anyone considering having any dealings with them is to think very carefully before doing so. The main culprit is the owner who operates under two names: (1) Jenny Voorhees & (2) Jenny Vanelderen. She is by nationality Belgian. She uses foul and abusive language to clients routinely particularly if you disagree with her.

She is assisted by Karen van den Bosch who initially is personable and courteous until you disagree with the owner.

This is a record of dealings with this firm whose general behaviour was truly appalling.

You have all been warned.

TAKE HEED ! !
