Hi , l am enquiring about permanent residency in Spain. My dear mother in law has a static caravan in Benidorm which she has owned for 12years.Unfortunately she lost her husband 2years ago. After testing the water and feeling more convinced this is were she wants to spend more than the permitted 90/180 day rule .

If anyone can help with advice on the process it would be very much appreciated.

Finally she is financially independent, with a good pension and very fit for her age.

Look forward to your helpful comm

"Good pension" needs to mean just under €28,000 pa.

She will also need comprehensive private health insurance with no exclusions, for preexisting conditions for the first year, not always easy to secure.

If she is a UK passport holder and want to live in Benidorm permanently she will need to apply for a non lucrative visa from the Spanish consulate in London, Manchester or Edinburgh. She will need to meet the income and healthcare requirements.

Income requirements for a single person is around €28,000 per annum and, as stated, she will need full private healthcare paid for a full year.

In the future she can reverse the residency at any time.

If she is over state retirement age in the UK then the Consulate now accept the S1 for free healthcare for the NLV and savings can be used towards the financial requirements.

The NLV is non lucrative visa.

The S1 is the UK government healthcare scheme which is paid for by the UK government. She will need to apply to the overseas healthcare team in Newcastle for the S1 forms to be able to apply for the healthcare.
