You need to rephrase your question and be more specific.

Documents for what. Moving or doing some work?

Both, we plan to rent long term so will we need some sort of residence approval? And how do we pay into the Spanish tax/health system. And do we need a work permit? Sorry for the "Silly" questions but we all have to start somewhere, lol.

Hi, You don't need to have any documents at all if the landlord is willing to rent to you, however......normally you will need to have a Spanish bank account so your new landlord can collect rent and electricity bills.

To rent long term you will need to put a deposit of one month rental and pay one month rent up front and often a finders fee to any estate agency that advertise the property.

You will need to sign on the foreigners register within the first 90 days of living in Spain and obtain your NIE number and residency card (from the national police station) after 183 days (6 months) you will automatically become tax residents and are required to pay taxes to the Spanish tax man instead of HMRC. You will need to fill out a tax form each year to declare your full income. You will need to obtain a "double taxation agreement form" so to stop paying taxes in the UK and only to Spain. You will need to fill out the Modelo 720 form to declare your total worldwide wealth including amounts in bank accounts and any property ownership in any country in the world.

To gain residency you will need to prove to the authorities that you have enough regular income (paid into a Spanish bank account) so not to become a burden on state. You will need to also prove that you have full healthcare cover for yourself and all dependants. You don't say your ages but if you collect UK pension you will be entitled to healthcare covered by the S1 form and the UK pay for your healthcare.

Albir is a very nice place to live (i live in Benidorm) I'm going to Albir market today funnily enough. But not much happening after 9pm and even less in winter months but only a short bus ride to Benidorm.

If you are thinking about finding work out here ...there isn't much!! Spain has the highest rates of unemployment within the eurozone!! To obtain any decent employment here you will need to speak fluent Spanish otherwise you will end up doing menial jobs that won't pay enough to cover the cost of rent. What work are you after?

Well thats given you something to think about.

Let me know if you need any more help. I can recommend a firm of solicitors in Albir that will do all of the above to help you settle in Spain. Don't forget that Brexit could change things dramatically.

We are both late 40's. We are selling a house here to get us set up, then we have investments and pensions to gain. But would like a wee job to tick us over. I would pick oranges lol. Thanx very much for sharing your knowledge, certainly food for thought. Cheers mate.
