Hi.

I’ve been following a lot of posts on here about taxes etc. What happens if you move out there and don’t sign up for  residentia.  How do you go about paying taxes, health care etc.

There must be a lot of people who doesn’t bother. Really interested in this, but not to break the law

Residency and fiscal residence are two separate matters. Pre-Brexit a lot of people have got away with not doing either. The good thing about Brexit is that after it happens then the length of stay of those people will be found out and action taken.

Just wondering when we lived in Spain 2005 until 2010 we had all relevant paperwork, residencia, paid taxes owned a car and everything else that entailed.

Would we need to re-register and go through it all again. Or would the powers that be still retain the relevant records. I destroyed all of iurs

As long as you don't have any financial interests whatsoever in Spain, no one cares. No need to register - so nobody knows that you really exist, like a tourist, only that you stay just a little bit longer. Breaking the law? Never - Spaniards bypass the Law wherever possible, and there's always a gap to slip in. Of course, you must know the laws and how they are applied. Nothing is as it appears, like in 1001 nights: so many beautifully coloured veils one after the other, but you'll never know what's really behind them. Intuition is the key, believe me you need a lot of it to succeed in getting easily over all the barriers and mantraps. So take your time (manana) and enjoy.
