Hi,

We are looking for a new internet supplier who offer switch on/switch off service.  Does anyone have experience with Telfy Satellite internet? Is it reliable and what is the bandwidth like? Thanks

Richard

Satellite really should be a last resort, do you really need to have it on your list of potential providers?

Our holiday home is in Montemar and our  current provider offer a very convenient switch on / switch off service, which is great when we are not there for months at a time. The internet is connected through an aerial on the roof, which is pointing to a local mast, but it is terribly unreliable.  I dont want to be paying when we are not there. The company who offered the satellite solution said that they could not offer us fibre connection, but could offer satellite.  Fibre would obviously be preferable.

Does anyone know what fixed line or fibre internet providers do provide the service to Montemar?

Richard

We have a house in Montemar (Calle de Manuel Falla) and use Telfy fibre internet, service has been very good although we haven’t switched it off yet.

Hi Rich, we are purchasing in Montemar and don’t want a permanent internet provider as we are not there permanently either. How does the switch on/switch off service work and how is the price worked out?

I paid an additional €50 for installation and I should be able to email them to switch on and off

We paid 145 Euro for the install then we pay just for when we are there

1 week 12,50,  2 weeks 18,50, 3 weeks 31, 4 weeks 34,90.
We purchase what we need on their website (using credit card or paypal) and it is turned on for us. We usually buy the internet the day before we arrive, but they say it will be turned on within 30 minutes.
It sounds perfect, but we have had a lot of problems with the reliability,  which I personally think is a bandwidth issue with wireless connection via an antenna on a mast rather than a wired connection to the house.
