It seems that the death rate is most important key factor

Correct, Mary, vaccinations are driving down the severity of illness so, despite soaring infection rates, admission to hospital ICUs is still relatively low.
Pacoboy, Spain changed its requirements on 2nd July and now requires travellers from the UK to present either:
- A certificate proving that they have had double vaccination at least 14 days prior to arriving in Spain, or
- A negative PCR test, or
- Proof of having recovered from Covid-19.

Kind regards,
Kim
This is just going to have to play out with hope that the double dose vaccination numbers are enough. Have others also read about the low efficacy of a single dose of Pfizer and AZ against the Delta variant? I've not read how good one dose of moderna or the single dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine is.
Some charts from our world in data below.
I've added Portugal as well just for some nearest neighbour context.

You already have a thread running on this entitled "Reckless Spain" so why the need to start a new one? Unless of course it's more idle anti Spain trolling!

Don't understand why those figures on the link are so different to what's been officially reported in the U.K.

Northern Ireland is the least fully vaccinated, and that's shown as 63%.
I'm really not sure if your post is anti-spain or anti-UK to be honest! Spains infection rate is also soaring - this is the expected trajectory of a pandemic - with each wave being less significant in terms of hospitalisations and deaths. UK is also doing far more testing than most other countries so this will affect the numbers of known infections too. It isn't going away - we all have to learn to live with it. We can't keep the world locked down for ever! Infection rate is no longer the most significant factor - if deaths and hospitalisations rise significantly / proportionately, that's the time to start questioning Government decision making!

Hi Lancelot,
There have been a few, small studies, that suggest vaccine efficacy is diminished, but that they still protect against severe disease. More extensive studies required though.

Hi Kim
It's those with a single dose who seem to be most at risk, given it affords scant protection :(
Clearly those with no doses might fair worse.
Double doses seem to be fairly robust which is something.

It could be that the numbers only include the adult population as against the whole population including children who might or might not be included into scope for vaccinations.
