Reregistering my English car.
I am thinking of bringing my English car to Spain. Could anyone advise on where to get it reregistered? And is it worth it?
Hi
Leigh Blann at http://www.spanish-number-plates.com/ will give you all the info you need.
The car I brought over cost £2500 in the UK same make and model here I saw was 7000 euros with higher km, headlights were switchable so no replacement cost and transfer to Spanish plates was 800 euros which can be a lot less depending on value and emissions. Right hand drive is not a problem apart from obtaining tickets entering carparks and toll fees if you don't have a passenger. Saga cover you for twelve months travel in Europe.

We brought our RHD Diesel Landrover over to Spain with us for various reasons. The bottom had dropped out of the market in the UK for diesels so with the high price of cars in Spain we chose to bring it with us and drive it til it gives up on us. We also pulled a trailer down with us for stuff we needed immediately.
You will have to pay import tax and we used Alan on +34 662 249 159 who was brilliant.
You also have to consider getting the car through the ITV, what with headlights and tow bars being a problem and rules WILL change and also depend which ITV station used.
Much of the parking here is on street and free and you soon learn to avoid the tolls. I would also suggest that if you do decide to bring your car over that you get it on Spanish plates asap otherwise you will stick out like a sore thumb and WILL be pulled over at random road blocks.
The Discovery has fantastic all round vision and we have no problems driving it here and it is perfect for the many unpaved roads as well as all the speed bumps that are everywhere. Spain has, I believe, the worst record in Europe for accidents, so if it is your pride and joy, I would suggest selling it!

No no and no again dangerous to drive inland and nobody wants them when It comes to get rid of.
By left hand drive in Belgium or Germany and then have delivered here or drive them .then put them on Spanish plates it's what these rogues in car lots do.

Hi all
Thanks for all your advice. We have decided when given a quote for everything it is not worth it. So will be looking for a car when we come out in September/ October. Thanks once again
