Hello. I understand from Jim's Guide that a full-cover Health Insurance policy is required to apply for Residency in Spain. Does anyone have any companies to recommend, or ways of being able to get the policy required w/o having to pay super high fees? Thanks in advance :-)

If you are under State Pension age you will need Private Health Insurance when applying for Residencia, I would recommend that you speak to Alfonso at Gran Alacant Insurances, he is very helpful, professional and will take you through all the options, they advertise on the Forum or use the link below.

If you are over State Pension age contact DWP in Newcastle and speak to their Overseas Section to obtain your S1 Form to enable you to register in the Spanish Healthcare System.

My husband a pensioner has been trying to get residency for months which will then enable him to get his SIP card for his health , any one else been held up by the system.

Not a pensioner yet but believe your husband needs to get S1 from Newcastle first, then he can get his SIP card and can then get residency

He has had his S1 form and all necessary documents for months but they seem to be taking forever to give out dates for residency .

Have you contacted CAB Spain.....I'm sure I read there that they can help if people are being refused appointments
