I am not taking a chance with Brexit going back to Dorset after 15 years sold the house does anybody want a Renault Clio 2008 and good holiday car sorry to see it go 2500e .

I just can't stand all these new white blocky houses it will make the area even more busy  in summer and quieter in winter.and estate agents popping up like mushrooms

Sorry you are wrong the last couple of yearsthis place is getting full of brits looking for the place in sun (under the radar pay no tax etc etc) thenmoan about the immigrant in England i am sick and tied about being tied by b rits telling me why do you pay tax going to my favourites for a meal and being crowded by drunken b rits.

The whole of Europe is plagued by this free movement of people and me paying for it.

Do you pay tax? Because 80 percent don't this country is going back to where it was corupt

I've been here a bit longer than you,Pacoboy, but no chance that I would return to UK.I agree with you Nicola,so often people come with great ideas of life which don't work out for them,so quite rightly go back.Maybe you made the wrong choice of location as I live in a very different area to the one you describe.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

There are lots of drunken Brits in Britain as well! I would however humbly contest the charge of living in the UK being akin to 'misery'. It may be for some but I for one and very happy to live where I do - glorious Devon. As a native Devonian, planting my feet on home soil after years of work and travel abroad was wonderful. So not very miserable here. We do spend some of the colder months in Villamartin and we love it there, but would never live there permanently.

But pacoboy does have a point - there is an issue with alcohol in the area, not least due to it's relative availability and cheapness. It is one of those mythical elephants in the room with regard to many ex-pat communities, like it or not.

Much of life on the Costas is very good indeed and we love our long stays there but I do tire of people telling me how terrible the UK is (it is not) or wonderful Spain is (it is not). People have their own reasons for choosing to live where they do. And if they are happy, then the very best of good luck to them. But every place and community has its share of characteristics, problems, issues.

Hope you all find happiness where ever you choose to live. Every country has its good & bad points. I must admit I have only been in Spain for less than a year the longest time over here was just unde 3 months absolutely love it, haven't come across drunken Brits or drunks of any nationally only very friendly and helpful people. In the UK at the moment, but looking forward to comming back again this time permantly
