Registering a UK car to Spanish

Can I register my uk car onto Spanish plates if I am a non resident in Spain. Apologies if this is answered elsewhere but I couldn't find it.

Are you sure, folks? I don't think a non-resident can transfer a car. In any case, if you did so, it would then be illegal to drive it in the UK.

Thanks Jim.....I realised I wouldn't be able to drive it in the UK once it was registered in Spain but wasn't sure if I could register it as I'm not resident in Spain. Have to have a re think.

I'm not certain myself but, to make sure, you could check with Graham or Leigh at Spanish Number Plates.

I'm just uneasy about it Pete. I've not heard of it being done, but if Graham or Leigh say it can be, then I stand corrected. I'd also ask them whether it's possible to do a duty free import, as what I've seen on the Hacienda website relates to duty free being available to those who move here, but I don't recall the non-resident situation being referred to.

I assume that Adele is considering a transfer in order to avoid having to take the vehicle back to the UK for its MOT.
