I'm hoping a Cecilia resident can help me with this. Each apartment has a garage space allocated to it in the basement of the Cecilia complex. My question is, does the space come free with the purchase of an apartment or is there a rental charge? In the case of the latter, who does one contact to set up the rental, and what is the fee?

Though every living unit must include space for one vehicle, common practice is that in most cases it's sold separately.

Just to add to what Killjoy said, the system in Spain as a whole allows for title deeds to be split and a garage space often with storage room (Trastero) sold separately from the apartment it was originally assigned to.

When buying an apartment with garage included it's important to make sure it's in the Compra Venta document which you receive before going to Notary on the day of the sale. This is the document that sets out what you are legally buying.

In the title deeds you receive after the sale, the garage number and the square metres it occupies will be accurately described. One of the reasons for this is that a garage owned by an apartment owner will increase (slightly) the community fees you pay because it increases your overall ownership of square metres under which the cuota system works.

I appreciate this may not apply to your question but I thought it could be of general interest to anyone who didn't know.

Kind regards, Steve
