Hi Everyone

Looking for recommendations please for some horse riding around the local area. Ideally somewhere where there is some faster riding?

I am an experienced rider, although rather rusty.

Appreciate any thoughts.

Thanks julie

Next week I‘ll have an appointment at Jess‘ Pony Express in Catral. As I saw on their homepage they do hacks a little bit faster. Next week I can tell you more about it. Best wishes

That would be great thank you. I have enquired there and asked if they do hacks around the salt lakes but she said not at the moment. I thought that would be a great place to ride. Would be interested to hear how you get on.

Thanks Julie

There’s a riding school in San Bruno area just off Lemon Tree Road  if that’s any good to you.

Think they go on the beach and round the nature reserve.

I have been there during my last stay in Spain. It was okay, the horses were in a good state, but the hack was just a walk, no trot or canter.

Now I can report: Today I had an appointment at Hipica Gillilo in San Miguel de las Salinas, and it was really great. We’ve been out for 2 hours with 4 riders, Jesus ( the owner), me and another couple, we did some trot and some canter (one very fast). The surrounding was nice, through the orange trees towards some hills.

My horse was in a good state, easy to handle but also moved willingly.

For the two hours I paid 35€. On Saturday I’ll do another hack there for 4 hours.

I can absolutely recommend. The only thing which might be a little difficult if you do not speak Spanish, Jesus (the owner) doesn’t speak any English. But his wife is Swedish, so maybe she could translate.

Best wishes

Alexandra
