Did your bank raise charges on transfers from the UK to Spanish bank accounts from 1/1/2021?
I received the following message from a so far reliable currency broker:
''Although the UK has now left the EU, we are still a member of the Single European Payments Area (SEPA). This should mean that European banks continue to process international transfers to and from the UK, as before, without any additional charges.
However, it appears that some banks, particularly in Spain, are imposing additional charges on all payments to or from the UK, including when receiving funds on your behalf from us''.
My Spanish bank confirmed that for transfers from the UK that there is a minimum charge of the higher of 18 euros or 0.35% of the sum received in my Spanish bank account from the UK, as a result of Brexit from 1/1/2021.
