Hi David,
The requirement to make minimum monthly deposits of €700 per month is so that Residents can qualify for free banking. However, Sabadell increased these requirements at the beginning of the year to also include the purchase of another of their products, such as insurance or investment. Most of the other banks followed their lead. The alternative is that customers pay a quarterly fee of €15.
As a Non-resident, you wouldn't qualify for free banking and, from memory, the quarterly fee is €35.
Kind regards,
Kim

I'm with Sabadell - they have been pretty good and their phone app works well allowing me to self serve as much as possible.
My branch seems to handle many non Spanish residents, it's one of those in Torrevieja, I have a named contact person who I can email/ call, she speaks multiple languages. She has just re-designated our account and waived our quarterly charge as we pay in over 700 eur a month and have taken out their home insurance (as others have already advised). We are not yet residents.
All good so far but I suppose it might depend on the branch where you open your account and your appetite for bank charges?

Morning Dave
For non residents, no. I just pay in money (various amounts) as and when I need too 🤪🥂
Morning Angebadge,
You sound like you have an on line account. Can you recommend any I should have a look at. My one requiremenr is they have a Spanish IBN number so I can pay all my facility bills.
Thanks

I found the two branches of Sabadell in Torrevieja worse than useless. Rude, lazy, inefficient and simply did not know their job. My advice is stay well clear. I can only sing praises for my completely free banking with Starling Bank, who I use for all my Spanish direct debits except for Torrevieja Urbagest (they can currently only accept a Spanish IBAN!), who I pay by bank transfer from my Starling Account.
Hi Dave
Sorry for the late response.
I didn’t make myself very clear did I? My online account is a U.K. bank, not Spanish.
I understand from other posters that Starling have an international IBAN
Good luck🤪🥂

Thasnks fo the follow up, I will have a look at Starling and see if I can get an On Line Account with them that has an intenational IBN number.

Hi Sabadell Bank, the bank that likes to pi** everyone off. Went into our local branch Villena, a couple of years ago to ask for £175 sterling. Was told it would take 4 days, no problem. We explained it had to be exactly £175 as we were paying someone who had transported some items from the UK. On the 4th day back to the bank to collect said money, he counted out £170. Asked where the £5 was just shrugged his shoulders and waved us away. Stood out ground and told him we wanted the £5 by next day. We had to go to our friends and borrow the £5 as the Man was coming that afternoon and wanted his money. We never did go back and get the £5. Then we tried to open a saving account, yes no problem, they then explained that it would cost €10 per month, so for every €30 we put in €10 would be taken out. We didn’t bother. Our Son is a bank manager in the uk, and is amazed at the way the banks are treating us all. At least Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask 🤬

Banks in Spain are not Cambios (money exchange points), it seems this is yet another example of UK citizens who expect Spanish banks to comply with UK procedures. I and many other UK citizens resident in Spain in the Denia area use Sabadell in Denia, Ondara, and Jesus Pobre with nothing other than excellent service.
