I need to get to Barcelona on 13th June to catch my 9am train to Paris . I’ve tried trains and some coaches but no joy . I’m quiet happy to pay . I don’t fly and getting this train will save me 10 hours travelling time back to the uk

It an expensive way to travel. I would suggest going the day before, Barcelona I can drive it in just short of 4 hours. Probably be a good idea to rent a car if you can drive?

Hi allen4,

Driving from Algorfa to Barcelona will take around 6 hours and one-way hires are usually expensive.  Have you looked at the train options:

Kind regards,

Kim

Hello

You could travel to Barcelona the day before by  daytime bus/train,  get a B & B close to the station for your next day journey .

Cheers

That would knock 40 minutes off the drive to Barcelona, but I would expect the train from Alicante to Barcelona to be cheaper than a one-way car hire, not helped by the shortage of hire  cars 🤔  At least with the Rome2Rio link, he/she can check out the options, although ideally I believe they're hoping for a lift to Barcelona.

Renting a one-way car would be expensive but since there's a time or schedule to catch on then it's the best option to take. Purchasing tickets online ahead of time such as https://www.thetrainline.com/en/train-times/alicante-terminal-to-barcelona or https://www.raileurope.com/en-gb/destinations/alicante-barcelona-train is the most practical way to save time and avoid dealing with crunch time. You can compare prices and set which works best for you. If you're going to Barcelona for holidays, might as well check the must-visit destinations https://gowithguide.com/spain/barcelona in advance so you're stay will be worthwhile.
