Hi

I have a chance to buy a Spanish registered / plated car here in the Uk.

It’s has ITV until August 2024. I would then want to drive it over to Spain Aug/sept of this year to keep in Spain  permanently. I have a home in Spain , NIE number etc.

Any pitfalls or is it just a case of buying it and driving over to Spain later in the year . Really struggling to finds any answers .

Many thanks Reg.

Download form https://sede.dgt.gob.es/sede-estaticos/Galerias/modelos-solicitud/02/Mod.02-ES.pdf, have it signed and legalized by the Spansih Consulate. Upon arrival oin Spain. fill form 621/622, pay tax and take all papers to "Trafico", have credit card ready to pay registration fee and that's it. However, any pending traffic tickets, unpaid taxes and whatsoever will halt the transfer process.

First step is have a report done in Spain - can be done online here (https://sede.dgt.gob.es/es/vehiculos/informe-de-vehiculo/index.shtml) to make sure no fines, embargoes etc and previous years IVTM has been paid.

Second, transfer ownership before travelling to Spain and so it is registered in your name when you arrive.

Hence NO problems whatsoever.

These guys can help.

You may find answers to some of your queries on the N332 website which is for English speaking people and deals with anything to do with driving in Spain.   The website, and their Facebook page, is run in collaboration with officers of the Guardia Civil and the website has an English version of the Spanish equivalent of the Highway Code on it.
