We bought a car last year and need to tax it for this year but have not had any notification on how to do this. Suma says that they do not cover Alicante city but we are not due out to Spain until June. Can anyone help please.
SUMA collects car tax (IVTM) on behalf of councils in Alicante province except Alicante city, Alcoy, Santa Pola and Xabia.
Alicante says you can pay online direct to the ayuntamiento but it looks like you need a digital certificate except if you want to pay and it says you don't need one for that,

This is where the catch 22 situation comes in!!!
As part of the process of obtaining the digital certificate you have to go to your ayuntamiento to obtain a PIN code.
However you don’t need a digital certificate to pay your IVTM as you can pay it here

Yes, have tried Google but it always seems to come back to Suma. Had an online chat with Suma who told me they don’t deal with our address.

Have you not tried the link in my post! found via Google, which incidentally tells you you can’t pay by SUMA in your municipality and gives you the instructions as per my post.

Yes, I have looked at this but as we have no paperwork I don’t know what the different numbers mean and how much we need to pay. Any ideas please?

Get in touch with a "gestoria" and ask them to do it for you.
Google "gestoria Alicante Ciudad".
