We are in Alicante city and desperte to rent a flat at a reasonable rate in a decent area, near or in the centre. We are in a hotel now after a month and cannot afford it much longer.
Would be grateful for any help or suggeztions..

You need to do the rounds of the local estate agents and look in their windows for rentals. Be prepared to pay the deposit if you see something you like.

I use this property search engine where not only estate agencies advertise but private landlords also.

Can recommend Idealista too, worked for us in Alicante and you can draw a circle on map for which areas you like and your budget etc which saves a lot of time. Good luck.
