Cheers Steve& Carole,
In September last year, the Spanish office if the exterior nominated BLS Spain to handle all visa applications. You can choose your own solicitor but they will have to go through BLS.
They say this is because of large differences in charges and that it will speed up the process
If you go to the BLS webpage, they will explain everything you need and give you the correct forms to complete. They will also ensure you have the correct documentation for your interview. Whoever you choose, you need to attend the Spanish consulate that deals with your area in person.
Go to the BLS Spanish Visa site and by selecting your country they will ask for the county you are applying from and link you to the correct Spanish consulate in UK.
You should note that 'partner' has no legal meaning in Spain which means that for an NLV you would be treated as unrelated individuals and as such would each have to meet the income requirement of 4 x IPREM or €28,800 pa.
Were you a married couple, or in a recognised civil partnership known 'Pareja de Hecho', then the requirement would be 4x IPREM for the first party plus 1x IPREM for the second making a total of €36,000.

Good points by Darro, just to add the IPREM is forecast to increase to €7750 in January so required income will be €31,000 or €38750 per couple if that comes about. The IPREM has been frozen for 2 years but normally increases Jan 1st each year.

Hi Darro
Thanks for that. People on the forum will have gone through this process. We would like some recommendations and roughly the cost. So we have a better idea. Cheers

Check out face book group "Brits retiring to Spain and the NLV" They cover everything you will need with considerable real world experience. (No affiliation).

Do the process yourself like I did..
We have just got our years 4&5 visa's..
Much much cheaper than using solicitors.
Good luck
