Hey!

Hoping to grab a 1 bed holiday flat in Alicante City for our (wife's and my) use, and for family and friends too (at different times!).

Budget 100k euros max.

There doesn't seem to be much at that price, however.

Don't want to go to south though, where I know there's an abundance of affordable apartments. Any advice welcome.

If we do make it, will look forward to meeting some of you one day!

Many thanks, Robert, will do: this isn't one I've been scanning.

Hi there,

Not sure exactly where you want to be but we recently moved from the States to Benitachell,

Fabulous area..

There are so many little inexpensive places nearby...

Hi Lisa

Very kind of you to input. I incline to Alicante City because have been there half a dozen times for holidays and it seems to have everything--except affordable beachfront apartments, no doubt because there is a lot of money in the city.

Your neck of the woods, Benitachell, does look gorgeous on a first look. My wife inclines to go north of Alicante. We'll have a good scan of it.

So thanks - and God bless America!

I would suggest that you have a look at the Citizens Advise Bureau Spain website as they may have answers to many of the bureaucracy queries that you will have.   Be aware that now that the UK no longer is part of the EEC there are much higher requirements for those who wish to live here in Spain, and there may also be some for those who wish to purchase a holiday home.

Thanks very much, Golandrina, I will check out CAB--always a reliable source.

Now reconciling to the view, however, that it is not possible to get anything near the beach for 100k euros in Alicante City itself: so north or south beckons!

Very much looking forward to meeting some of you out there, if we can pull it off.

Hi, You may have already seen it but the website Idealista is a really good place to search. It is available to view in English. You can refine the search to Alicante Centro, and price low to high. There are flats to be had for 100k and less.( Not front of beach, but not far away).  I previously used the site to find a great long term rental, but also regularly look with a view to buy. I suspect prices may fall once the economic effects of Coronavirus kicks in. A lot of owners of air b and b flats have had their fingers burnt due to no recent tourism and may well get out.

Good luck.

Simon.

Many thanks.

As it happens, that is another site I had seen a few references to, but had not checked out: which I will do now. Its capacity for specifying which bit of Alicante City will be extremely useful.

Other sites list dozens of affordable 2,3,4 bedroom flats, but they are far from the front and they are not holiday homes. "Caveat emptor" comes to mind...

So thank you!

Hi,

If you are not able to stay right in the city then maybe take a look along the tram line. Just before Covid-19, my husband and I looked at some nice apartments around 80,000-;90,000 near El Campello. Some were only 1 street away from the beach. The tram is only 89cent if you have a bus pass/card, the card is only 3 euros to purchase. The trams runs from the city so it may be an option.
