Hi

I need some advice regarding getting a mortgage from spanish lenders please.

As a non Spanish resident what type of mortgage will i need to apply for If i intend to buy a holiday home in spain and only a few weeks a year i  use it for my holiday and the rest of the year rent it out.

What sort of limitations or tax charges will apply to both holiday home or investment.

Thank you very much

Hello, search this site for Tourist Licence, Everywhere. Take note especially of DaveBev1´s fantastic 6 part fact sheet.
In Spain, as with many tourist areas around the world, things they are a changing.
Locals are being driven out due to the high cost of rentals, neighbours are being driven mad by unruly guests, the hotel industry is losing money, and often no tax is paid on the income. Unfair on all.

Hi Cheryl,

Thanks for your message. I have read all about licence and DavaBev1before. I am few steps before getting licence etc. I know that the mortgage lenders give  you different type of mortgages with different rates depends on the purpose of purchase. I think the mortgage you get for  a property that is bought solely for investment has different condition and limitation compared to the mortgage you get for purchasing a holiday home where have right to rent it out if you can get a licence for it.

Not sure if anyone has had any experience before.

Thank a lot

That´s great, glad you are forearmed and not been misled into buying something under false pretenses like some others have. All the best for the future.

Perhaps Spain is not a good choice for investing money these days. Public debt exceeds national gross income, social expenditure exceeds limits, uncertain political future, serious social unrest, the whole system must collapse sooner or later.

Ah, Killjoy, you crease me up. Please sort that incompetent shower at Gatwick for us!
Still agree that investing in Spanish property is not a wise move but it´s the way you tell it. Happy Christmas.
