After years of visiting, at last we now own an apartment in Alicante City...not far from the Mercado. We complete the purchase in November and would like to hear from anyone that offers housekeeping services and advice on owning/running our new home for the first six months or so...Someone to show us the way so-t-speak. We will be visiting initially (90 day rule unfortunately) but hope and intend to make the place our permenant home soon. The apartment is in very good decorative order and will be nicely furnished...So its someone who can make sure all is well in our absence and  make the place ready to welcome us when we are here. Very poor Spanish at present. Apologies.

Mark

Hello Mark

I live not too far from the market and although I am not able to commit to any housekeeping etc. I would certainly help you if I can when I am there.

I do spend a few months out of Alicante .

Contact me if you wish ,

Kind regards

Thank you so much for replying Mina...Really appreciated. The apartment is on Avenida del Padre Espla. We are thrilled after all the years to have our own place and we complete at the end of October. From the UK, we have furniture ready to ship and hoping to be there when the van arrives! ...I guess, this kind of thing is what i'm thinking about...someone there when we arent. As yet, I dont have a clue what to do with regards to electricity bills, service charges etc. A contact in Alicante when we are back in the UK would be most welcome. House keeping we can do...We are very down to earth people. Its a contact there that we can rely on and be in touch with if the alarm goes off for example.

Do you see what I'm getting at?...Hope this makes sense!

With thanks again and kindest regards...Mark & Lesley

Your abogado/lawyer should normally sort out the electricity, rates

, that kind of thing as part of the service for which you are paying them. It would all normally be set up via direct debit which is easier if you are not yet here permanently, through your Spanish bank account. Although many non residents prefer to arrange this through Wise as I unders it.

Of course, pm me at any time, but we are not situated near you, being miles out in the country nearer Denia. However, you would of course be welcome to come and visit our country hovel if you can face a lengthy drive and unreliable satnav! Some Spanish friends visited on Monday from Alicante and despite onboard satnav ( inefficient German engineering!!!) and my idiot proof instructions, got hopelessly lost! But feel free to contact me, always pleased to meet new people!

Hi.

Congratulations and you've made a great choice.  I've been living here since March, speak fluent Spanish, born in UK. I live a bit further up, by the hospital.

I'd be happy to help with any queries you have.

Setting up the water bill with Aguas de Alicante is a bit teckier than electric,  you need to get a Nota Simple and take it to their office in Benalua.

Carl
