Hi All,

Can anybody please advise me where I can buy security cameras with solar panel and wifi to reach a distance of 3000metres?
It is to cover all of my property. I do not want subscription costs.

Do I need to first obtain permission and licences from my local city hall?
It is to deter the nasty threatening man, and film (with audio) him as factual evidence.
My local city hall urbanisation development and planning department are preparing a thorough report to confirm if any of the streets are private, public or mixed.  At a glance they do not think that any of the streets in my area are private. They will notify me when they are finished.

Thanks

Ah, I see this is to do with your question about walking on streets.

You need to be very careful about covering public routes.

Much better to just use your phone's camera or leave it to plod.

Or just get a nice friendly brute of a bloke to beat the .......

Hi Badger1234, thank you for providing your website link. Yes, that is correct. The nasty man has shocked and terrified the living daylights out of me. I have a historical phone and I'm pondering about installing home security cameras or CCTV cameras so the next time he decides to do another nasty action then in a court of law I can show my factual proven evidence, audio and camera footage. I am not keen to pay monthly subscription costs. Yes, there are loads of home security cameras on the market, but for my protection (and my husband) I would like to cover all of my private property which is 3000metres, have an internet connection and a solar panel on it.  I thought that wifi could cover a very large area.  If the nasty man comes onto my private property unannounced or invades my space I believe that in Spain I can legally record him 'in action' to prove my point in a court of law.  In all the countries I have resided in I have never ever had to install security cameras, so this will be a new experience.

AFAIK, you're fully entitled to record your own property. It's recording outside of that, that isn't allowed.

I believe you also have to have a sign in an easy place to see warning that you are recording via cameras.

The link I gave you has no subscription and records onto a hard drive, where you can extract a copy to use as evidence.

You say 3000Ms and I assume you mean 3000 square meters. That's a big area for Wifi, but you might get around 300 feet distance, so a quick glance on Google tells me. You could use your phone to test it at the same sort of distance as a camera might be.

I'm still not convinced that's your best bet though.

Spending a couple of hundred to get someone to warn this lowlife off sounds much easier, but I doubt that's how you like to play things.

And I really shouldn't condone it anyway, I suppose.

3,000 m² = if the property is square its around 54 m x 54 m, obviously depends on the shape of the property, if the house and router sits in the central position of the property i am pretty sure the wifi will extend for a distance of 25m around the property, if not then a wifi booster for this sort of an area would be quite cheap to buy.

For the record:

Given a clear unobstructed line of sight path between transmitter and receiver and a properly engineered system built with low loss cable and high gain directional antennas etc., WiFi - which remember is nothing more than a made up convenient title for what is in essence a pretty basic 2.4 or 5gHz wireless link - is easily capable of working over some 10's of km!

I'm an old school Radio Ham (G0KJO, fwiw), so know how it works.

Now explain why some people can't get a signal upstairs from their router please.

The point being the router is very unlikely to be outside, making your point somewhat moot.

It's academic anyway. Simply try it on your phone and if that works ok, it's probably happy days, as I said.

Anyway, I'm still confused by the OP's other post, which I thought was about her walking down another road and being threatened by whoever lived there?????

Before you go laying out substantial amounts of money, please consider the following:-

Visit online cctv forums and speak with experienced persons or companies like HaloBodycams.Eyetek Surveilance.

Research 'Bodycams' and covert body cameras many types on the market some will have 16 hours of battery power.

Many can be set up on a windowcill for example when not accompanying you.

The quality of picture and sound are now first class you may see them worn by security officers in shopping precincts.

Costs are reasonable and can give you a piece of mind and confidence wherever you may be.

Don't rule out concealed or covert cameras depending of course on your needs.
