Is there anywhere close to Melia Alicante where I can order a cake ,

Easiest option may be to go to El Corte Ingles. On the ground floor of the Branch at Calle Dr Gadea there is a nice cake section.
Alternatively if you stroll up to Mercado Central there are a couple of independent cake shops just to the left of the Market on the main Street called Alfonso Y Sabio.
Concierge at the Melia could probably sort it for you as well.
