We have just bought an apartment in Alicante 😊. Need to furnish it and wondered if anyone has ideas on the best places to buy good quality, reasonably priced furniture in the city. We are flying over to pick up the keys on the 5th July and staying for a week so would like to buy at least one bed with same/next day delivery....seems a shame to stay in a hotel when we have our own apartment!

We used https://www.jewellfurniture.com who saved us a lot of time by providing a furniture pack pack for our new apartment. Bev is really helpful and tailored the pack to Mix and match to what we wanted - she measured up, and liaised with the sales agent/ solicitor to Deliver the furniture ready for when we arrived - they even installed blinds and curtains. This left us time when we arrived to stock cupboards and buy the small stuff

We found it quite difficult to furnish our place. Buying some items online and getting delivery proved to be a bit of a nightmare and wasted a lot of time. Months were wasted following false promises of delivery dates from Leroy Merlin for example. There is an Ikea in Murcia which may be an option, we initially considered it as you can also order online from the UK- having checked out the furniture in the UK stores, but we found it easier and believe it or not no more costly, to buy in the UK and get a man with a van to deliver it. If you are set on buying in the City then El Corte Ingles is a good choice, but you pay more to enjoy less hassle.

We bought a bed from one of the many independent bed shops in the City which was fairly painless, probably because they were an independent and there was more of a personal touch.

We got there in the end of course, and then once you have the basics you tend to add other things as you discover them.

Good luck and maybe see you around- we are out on the 8th !

Thank you,  I visited IKEA in the UK, made a list of furniture that I liked then looked at the Spanish site, some things were quite a bit more expensive and others not available. I think that we have decided to buy a bed in one of the city shops and then spend the week looking around but probably buy most in the UK and take it over in our van in the next few weeks.  Can't wait to get over there.

Hi Jane,

If you find any places please let us know. We are hoping to get our key for our apartment at the end of July so will be looking for some items too. If you are close to the city then there is an indoor shopping centre Centro Comercial Gran Vía which has an Ikea in it, it's only a small one but you book an appointment and order.

I'm going to be researching over the next week or so, if I find anything then I'll add it to this page.
