I would like to thank all of those who have used our forum over the last 6 months during this difficult time in the world, and posted friendly, welcoming and helpful messages to those in need.

I would like to reassure members I am committed to keeping our forum friendly, welcoming and open to all no matter how big or small questions they may seek to get answers to.

Many members have been in touch with me to say they have not been confident posting on the open forums for fear of rude or aggressive replies. I am confident those days are now over, so please feel free to post on our forums and our members will always help.

If any members see any rude, aggressive, unfriendly or unhelpful replies please use the "Report" button to let me know and I will of course take action.

Thank you again for using our forum and helping people find useful information.

As someone who has on occasion been on the receiving end of abusive and rude comments I applaud the actions you have taken. There have been times when I have been discouraged from taking part in discussions because of the tone of some members replies. It is sad that we have now lost a few members, however, many more ( myself included) will be more confident making comments and contributions. The Forum will continue to be a great source of information and advice for all and will be a better site if we all show kindness and politeness while we have the knowledge that Alex will step in if necessary.

Hi John

I agree wholeheartedly with your comments. There are many knowledgable members who are prepared to support and guide others, ensuring the forum continues to thrive.

As you say, there are those that have, perhaps, felt a little overwhelmed previously. I certainly have noticed the absence of posts from some members, although they are still actively reading the threads

Alex’s position must, I’m sure, be very difficult on occasion. I’m sure today has been no exception. A successful forum must surely be the sum total of the many, not the few. 🤪🥂

As someone who was regularly on the receiving end of abusive and rude comments from the banned members, I couldn't agree more.  Fortunately, I was simultaneously inundated by PMs from members offering support, many saying they didn't feel confident to post anything in such a hostile environment.  So I'm delighted to see both new members and infrequent posters already becoming active again.  I feel this is testament to how well Alex has responded to the concerns of the majority and I fully support how he has managed this difficult episode.  The forum already feels like a much happier place again 👏

Best wishes,

Kim

Hi Kim,

Yes, you are right, I can breathe a sigh of relief now and we can all look forward. It is a shame about Jim’s guides though. Although I do not use them, I would have liked the link to be able to help others. I have received some PM’s asking me for it but am unable to help. Jim did a lot of research before compiling the guides, and many people will miss them. By the way Kim, your posts have always been helpful and respectful and are an example of the way we should all use the forum. Best regards

Hello Ange, thanks for your post. I did not see anything in Kim’s post regarding this. Although Jim’s guides are still in the menu, I can find very little. He did say that he was deleting them. I have to say I found some of them a bit too detailed for general enquiries. Regards, Sheila

Hi Sheila

Oh, I’m not sure what’s happening, I can see them all. After the banner at the top of the page, first sub set at the left??

Hope you find them. 🤪🥂
