Hi Sheila,

They're still there and Jim updated many of them this year - Alex has organised them a little differently with a useful search function to make them easier to find:

Spain tips and guides

Kind regards,

Kim

Thanks Alex. Looking through the threads as I have done of late it seems much more calm and polite.

All the best.

Hello Ange, thanks for your post. I did not see anything in Kim’s post regarding this. Although Jim’s guides are still in the menu, I can find very little. He did say that he was deleting them. I have to say I found some of them a bit too detailed for general enquiries. Regards, Sheila

I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiments of the above posts! I have appreciated the amount of useful info that I have been able to glean from this wonderful site and it would be a shame if users were to be denied the vast pool of useful advice that is available here. I had noticed  a number of hostile posts and unkind remarks that were being made to members who were trying to be helpful. I thought about making my own contribution but then I thought there is no point in adding oil to the fire! As they say,if you can't make a kind ,thoughtful or useful comment  don't make a comment at all! To all the members who make interesting and worthwhile contributions ,keep up the good work, and to Alex in administration thank you for all your hard work on our behalf!

Looks like this could be another good forum spoilt by one or two members.  it's not a new problem, looking back on here there was good post some time back "Courtesy on the forum".  Basically its all down to manners/breeding.

This Forum has just lost Jim Taylor who was a fountain of knowledge, plus Jim spent many many hours of his own time undertaking research trying to help people find the answers to their problems. Remember all of this was FOC.

Sorry Alex, but you must Moderate more severely, else you will lose more members.

Regards

Syd

Hi Syd

Please can you press the "Report" button next to the posts of those you feel are spoiling the forum and I will of course investigate.

One of the reasons Jim says he left was because he wanted less moderation and didn't like the fact that I banned 2 members who broke the rules due to unfriendly behaviour. So if you're saying Jim left because I *didn't* moderate more severely then this is the exact opposite of what happened!

I would like to thank all of those who have used our forum over the last 6 months during this difficult time in the world, and posted friendly, welcoming and helpful messages to those in need.

I would like to reassure members I am committed to keeping our forum friendly, welcoming and open to all no matter how big or small questions they may seek to get answers to....

...

Many members have been in touch with me to say they have not been confident posting on the open forums for fear of rude or aggressive replies. I am confident those days are now over, so please feel free to post on our forums and our members will always help.

If any members see any rude, aggressive, unfriendly or unhelpful replies please use the "Report" button to let me know and I will of course take action.

Thank you again for using our forum and helping people find useful information.

I also support Alex's action. I have been fortunate in not having received any rude or offensive comments on my few posts. Personally I have always lived by simple rules - courtesy to others at all times even if provoked. We are all human beings with feelings - offensive comments achieve nothing in life though possibly they give the offender a kind of satisfaction in thinking they are right but that's something I have difficulty in understanding. My personal view is that the Brexit fiasco is a product of English xenophobia and intolerance coupled with a deep lack of respect for our European neighbours A.P.

I think that Jim was on his way, regardless. He’s moved to a website that appears, in the main, to be built specifically for him. That doesn’t happen in two minutes, it takes weeks, if not months of planning 🤪🥂
