We've had lots of posts asking for advice on how and where to get covid tests before travelling to/from Spain and I would like to compile a list of these suppliers so we can help others.

Please help by replying to this topic - please only reply if you can help with the answers to the below. For general discussion please use other topics.

Please let me know:

  • Where you received the test (location and contact details etc)
  • What type of test it was (PCR / Lateral flow / Antigen etc)
  • Cost of the test
  • Was it for travelling to or from Spain?
  • Whether you had any problems using it for travel?

I am putting a list together of your answers on the following topic:

We have just returned to the UK after a wonderful 12 day stay in Altea.
The current Scottish requirement is that we had to be tested within 3 days of our return flight. Our tests were carried out at Clínica La Mar in Altea, this clinic can be found on the main principal road, almost opposite Altea’s main tram station (just along from the Policía station). The tests are by appointment only, therefore please email:

[email protected]  to book.

Antigen tests are 40€ per person. The results were available within 10 minutes, she emailed a copy of the certificate to our mobiles and also printed off paper certificates for us to take too.

Great service & super efficient.

Before returning to the UK in June we had antigen tests at the Virgen de la Caridad centro medico in San Pedro del pinatar.  The cost was 30 euros and the whole process was very efficient.  You need to go in and book (take your passport with you) but we were able to get the date and time we wanted. You get the results on an official letter within 10 minutes of the test.

We were travelling from UK to Spain and had to take a PCR test 24hrs before boarding ferry to Santander. We used DAM healthcare £95 each as they were the only provider that would email back your results within 24hrs. Beware of the app they ask you to download.  It requests personal details like passport number and DOB ect which you think it's ok to give as you want the SQR code to be able to scan your status, but no one in our party ever received theirs, and you have just given a stranger a lot of sensitive information about yourself.  This bit is worrying. Make sure if you take have a hard copy with you.

Upon return to UK we used Mirrials Laboratory in Elda €35. They are very quick and Laboratory very clean. For our day 2 tests in the UK we used Eurofins as they were the cheapest £99 at the time, but I do know prices fluctuate on these tests. These tests have to be booked before you can return home as information about this test is on you passenger locator form. Personally I think our own antigen tests suffice and think it's a big money spinner for those companies. Spain's prices are reasonable but UK's are expensive  but I guess you gave to pay if you want to go.

I have travelled from Spain to the UK a few times, first when there was 10 days' quarantine, then when it's just Day 2 tests if you are fully vaccinated.  I get an antigen test from Dr Pastora in the village of Pinar de Campoverde. Book an appointment, test done by the doctor, cost €35, results in half an hour with certificate. This has been accepted with no problems by Ryanair for check-in and Border Force arriving in the UK. The issue is getting the tests in the UK, which are expensive and many companies are unreliable or dud set-ups. I have found Vivo clinic reliable in terms of getting kits and results in good time, although not cheap. There does not seem to be any monitoring of people coming into the country now, though. Border Force didn't check any of my paperwork in July; presumably they are relying on the airlines. Ryanair, for example, requires you to upload your proof of vaccine/test/passenger locator form when checking in.

Just returned from Cabo Roig to Scotland.  We booked our antigen tests through the Farmacia at Campoamor (next to Consum).  Definitely recommend booking in advance as it's very busy and also note that the only do them Monday thro to Friday.  The cost was 50 euros.  We were in and out in 10 minutes and very straightforward.

The tests were received in about an hour to our mobile in a PDF and this is needed at the airport to be either shown or uploaded to your boarding pass info.

There does seems to be quite a range of places offering them and at different prices, so well done for trying to pull it together!

Hi Alex

I had an antigen test on Monday 19th July at the Salvum clinic in Gran Alacant I pre-booked it by calling in there with my passport, where they foto copied it to enable to load the information onto their computer to enable the appointment to be quicker on the test day. My appointment was at 10am…the queue was quite long but they kept a lot of people outside the building to keep to indoor regulations. My wait was approx 10 minutes till I got the test then approx 30 mins for the results… I then paid €40 & was given a printed certificate & asked to check it. It was all done in a professional but caring manner! My flight back to England was at 17.30 & everything was absolutely fine. I will be using Salvum again when I visit again in September 🤞

Hope this helps!
