I did the test at Pastoras in Pinar de Campoverde.  Booked it a week before, took it the morning before flight. 35 euro each. For the 2 day test we booked randox, as it had a voucher for easyjet. It arrived at our home two days before we did, even though we told them the date of travel. Cost £43 each. We assumed you would just pop the test in the post, but we had to drive 20 miles to place our tests in a collection box.

Border control was much easier, but when we travelled from Alicante there was only one person on the bag drop desk so it took about an hour to get through.

Hi Jayne,

We are coming (hopefully) to Spain from Scotland on the 16th August and do NOT require any tests before travel, only the Spanish locator form with the QR form, plus our proof of double vaccination.

It’s on the return to the UK that the proverbial hits the fan.

Predeparture antigen test certificate for flight operators to check before boarding, plus proof of prebooked PCR for day 2 in GB,think the latter is for border control at UK.

Good luck !

The Day 2 test code needs to go in your UK locator form before you can fully complete it.  Returning the Randox testing kit was relatively easy, although their on line form was quite in depth.  Having done it all once though, I feel more relaxed about returning to Spain in September as long as the rules don't change.  And the total cost per person is not too bad at £73 for both Antigen and Day 2.

I have travelled from Spain to the UK a few times, first when there was 10 days' quarantine, then when it's just Day 2 tests if you are fully vaccinated.  I get an antigen test from Dr Pastora in the village of Pinar de Campoverde. Book an appointment, test done by the doctor, cost €35, re...

...sults in half an hour with certificate. This has been accepted with no problems by Ryanair for check-in and Border Force arriving in the UK. The issue is getting the tests in the UK, which are expensive and many companies are unreliable or dud set-ups. I have found Vivo clinic reliable in terms of getting kits and results in good time, although not cheap. There does not seem to be any monitoring of people coming into the country now, though. Border Force didn't check any of my paperwork in July; presumably they are relying on the airlines. Ryanair, for example, requires you to upload your proof of vaccine/test/passenger locator form when checking in.

Current rules for entering Spain from the UK do not require a pcr test if you have been fully vaccinated more than 14 days prior to arrival, if not then a negative pcr test is required.

We returned to UK on 7th August. We had brought LFT tests with is (cost 32 pounds each), from Qured in the UK, to be completed before boarding. This didn't work as Qured said they were unable to contact us. Instead of using those tests we went to IMED in Teulada and had the test done in 5 minutes (no reservation needed) with the result provided by email very shortly afterwards. Cost 40 Euro each. Very quick, only a small queue. Would recommend IMED.

Before completing the UK travel form we booked a 2 day PCR test from testingforall.org (cost 52 pounds, but now I see they are 48 pounds). They delivered the test on time by courier and we can track the progress of the test online. Would recommend testingforall.org.

The test results, and the UK travel locator form, were checked at check-in at Alicante by Veuling.

We are both fully vaccinated (in UK) but no one asked to see the vaccination evidence when returning to UK.

Thanks to Scots Lass for confirming our understanding of the complex rigmarole that has sprung up over the procedures required for legitimate travel between Scotland & Spain.

We have found a nice clinic in our Santa Pola Base that will do the pre-departure LFT for 29 Euros each including a printed certificate, so this is sorted.

We have also  sussed out the online drill for ordering up the Day 2 "welcome home" PCR kits to be sent to our Scottish address, by the NHS, but stage managed by a mysterious company described as CTM, who have somehow muscled in on the act, exclusively for we who live north of the border.

For this unique privilege we will have to pay £88 each, day before departure, to the said CTM, who then allegedly send some of this money to the Scottish NHS, for the actual test kits.

We were offered the Randox kits by our carriers, Ryanair, for a much lower price, but we are warned on the Scottish government website that anyone caught trying to sidestep the Scottish government allies (aka CTM), could face a penalty of £500 each, so we feel safer, but 'scunnered' by compliance with this blatant commercial blackmail. To the best of my knowledge Boris is not involved in this dodgy deal.

Looking forward to arriving in Santa Pola next week, best wishes to our fellow CBF members.

CTM are an Australian travel mgt company how somehow have gotten into bed with the Scottish Government for these day 2 rip off tests @ £98 each.  Would be interesting to see what the split of the profits is there!

Anyhow, we ignored them and used Randox as Ryanair were promoting them and giving £5 discount, so surely not breaking the law.  Paid for the tests online, got the kits delivered to the house and then dropped them off at a DX office nearby.

We phoned CTM to say we had booked our test through Randox and they said that was gune as long as we had completed all the paperwork and test results etc!

So, basically I think there is one big con goin on here!

Please let me know:

Where you received the test (location and contact details etc)What type of test it was (PCR / Lateral flow / Antigen etc)Cost of the testWas it for travelling to or from Spain?Whether you had any problems using it for travel?

I am putting a list together of your answers on the following topic:

I took an antigen test at the Farmacia M Pilar BanonAnao, Avda LaPlaya, LaZenia. Its the one on the roundabout on N332 opposite the Ole Communications.  I booked the day before and went in at 9am.  We were out in 10 minutes and the result came by email later that day.  The cost was E55.  That was in mid September.  I am out next week so will be looking for a cheaper option!!
