Having now had a few months on this forum, I'd like to ask that you consider the following suggestions:

Many Spanish words have an accent on a vowel. On the other forum, on a PC, all I need to do is hold down Alt Gr and vowel to put an accent on the vowel. I can't do that on this forum. I'm left with the option of ignoring the accent, which annoys me, doing a copy and paste job, or trying to remember the ASCII numbers for accented vowels. Please consider enabling Alt Gr + vowel to add an accent.

I still think that the search facility should have the clear, and first, option to do a global search of all areas in the forum. Many members post topics outside the sub-forum in which they should be posted, and many topics have a global application, i.e. they aren't limited to a specific geographical area. The easiest way of course would be to remove the requirement to 'Enter your location', or include 'all areas' as an option.

Whilst preparing a post, the spell-checker doesn't ignore words starting with a capital letter. That means that it will nearly always show up a proper name etc as possibly incorrect. Is it possible to set the spell-checker to ignore words starting with a capital letter?

In a similar vein, is it possible to make the spell-checker bi-lingual - i.e. to stop it throwing up Spanish words as incorrect?

Yes, I agree a Global search is needed. I tried to find old posts that I had seen on a topic, and without knowing the area it was impossible.

Fortunately the accents on words are easily found on my iPad, but it would bother me too if I had difficulty using them.

It's a great forum and very helpful, so a few tweaks would make it great!

Hi Jim

We have now added an "All areas" option in the location search for you - please try that out and let us know.

Regarding the spell checker, I think this is your browser, though I do note you saying it's different when you use other websites? I think we may launch a feature soon to fix this problem and will let you know how it goes. Myself and Jan do this in our spare time so we're not the quickest at the moment but appreciate your suggestions and hope to make lots of improvements soon.

Hi Alex,

Just tried the 'All areas' search, and it worked! That's made life so much easier. Thank you very much.

Set your keyboard to ES and then you can easily enter é, ó, í and even ü which occurs occasionally in castellano

I know I could do that, but it's not worth the hassle of swapping back and forth in a word. It's introducing, in my opinion, extra key presses which slow things down. AltGr + vowel works in the original forum - I'm simply asking Alex to check the viability of introducing it in this forum.

I use both UK and ES settings. I have a UK physical and a Spanish physical keyboard. English has no accents except in such words as "that´s" and so I use the Spanish physical keyboard 98% of the time with the system set to ES

I just use a UK physical keyboard. OK, I can swap it to Spanish language, but then I've got to remember the differences in the various keys. For the limited number of variously accented Spanish letters, it's not worth swapping. On the PC I've got Alt + shortcuts set for various characters, including Alt + n for ñ, to save me having to remember the ASCII Alt + 164 and 165. As I've said above, AlrGr + vowel works on the old forum, which now belongs to Jan and Alex (who kindly rescued it from death), so I was hoping Alex might look at the code or whatever (I know nothing about website and forum design and operation) in case it's easy to implement on this forum.

Of course it depends on which language you use most - I use the two languages about 50:50. The solution primarily dpends on personal usage
