You can use any notary you wish - provided he does what you want done, and at a price you're willing to pay; you'll just have to ask the notaries in your area.

I'm a bit surprised that, on a busy forum like this one, I seem to be the first person to recommend a specific notary.

Broadly what you say is true but there are notaries and notaries. I won't mention names or areas but I went to one about my will and found him rude and unhelpful. I wanted a will to reflect a private debt to be repaid in the event of my death. He rudely said it was impossible. Yes I speak Spanish though I am part deaf. I then found an excellent lady lawyer who was as honest as the day is long (but only speaks Spanish). She prepared the text and organised a different notary and all concerned were extremely helpful. If your needs are totally straight forward I am sure most notaries would prepare the document and execute it for you without using a lawyer.

Just used the services of the Notary, it was about 40 minutes away from our place but worth the drive. Very professional and friendly service. Thanks for the advice Jim.

Thats so  good to know. I have just emailed them.

I'd ask our notary to put me on a commission, but for the low prices they charge, it wouldn't earn me very much. It might, however, put me in Ayla's good graces!

When we first moved here many moons ago, we didn't know any better and used our solicitor to prepare our wills and take us to the notary to get them enacted. This obviously wasn't cheap and, from the posts I've seen on this forum, a lot of people are still falling into the same trap.

I recommend that if you want to make wills, or carry out any other procedure that requires a notary's involvement, then you use the following:...

...

NOTARIA JOSÉ CARLOS PÉREZ JUAN

Avda. Príncipe de España 2, 2nd floor

(the entrance is on Calle Islas Canarias)

03160 Almoradí

965 701 121

website: http://notariaperezjuan.es/

email: [email protected]

The location map is here - it's just off what we all call fountain roundabout:

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Notar%C3%ADa+de+Jos%C3%A9+Carlos+P%C3%A9rez+Juan/@38.1141,-0.789214,15z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0xe0deef6591fa2b06!8m2!3d38.1140998!4d-0.7892141?hl=en-GB

The notary José speaks perfect English, and the ladies will swoon over him. There's a lovely young Welsh girl called Ayla who the men will lust over. So no problems with communication.

If you send them an email, they'll send you an information sheet plus a document where you can enter all your details to enable them to prepare the will. Return this and they'll tell you when the will is ready.

The price is €57.17.

We will shortly be doing living wills, and the price for that is similar.

If anyone follows my advice, please tell them who recommended you.

hi jim is that 57.14 each as iv just been quoted 130 euro each last week when picking up title deeds from lawyers in playa flamenca not took it out but we were thinking of it

cheers john

I think it's per individual - I didn't think to ask what the price would be for a joint will.

Jim thank you once again we will visit the Notary in Playa Flamenca when we arrive permanently next month.
