You might have seen them in open freezer displays. Large round doughnut shaped cakes. They normally cost about nine euros so when they were on sale at a third of the price, I decided to buy one.

They taste OK but had some nasty surprises in them. Half the cake and I found something that looked like a battery, made of metal. Also a large fruit stone(?). Both could damage your teeth if you bit down hard on them. And some cellophane. I decided to throw the rest away.

Have you found anything similar in them?

Yes, always: (sometimes, also in Xmas puddings in the UK.)

Yes, a broad bean and a king. Nicely wrapped. Nothing that would harm consumer. If you find a bean in your piece of cake, it is your turn to buy the cake next time. Hmmm, maybe for the full price.

I'm sure you are correct, but, I've never heard of such an instance. However, ( many years ago) I did swallow a sixpence (6d) at Xmas in UK. I retrieved it some hours later! V

Yes, you are right, lots of bits in the kitchen one could swallow. That's why they don't put coins anymore in cake in UK. But don't kill all traditions please. Or we will be sipping liquidised strained food. Cold, so nobody get burned...
