Hello

Im asking on behalf of a friend

Can a brit avoid a passport stamp in connection with the 90 day rule post brexit if they travel to spain from the republic of ireland?

As ireland will still be in the eu and brits can travel to ireland without a passport

No not if your passport is a UK passport, it doesn't matter where you travel from it could be Dublin or Timbuktu its your passport that matters.

I hear where you're coming from but can you really imagine it ending up being as simple as that or the EU permitting it to be so, it would make a complete mockery of the Schengen zone and amount to freedom of movement but in one direction only.

How it's to be contolled or policed is yet to be explained but I think you can safely guarantee that there will checks somewhere be they at the point of departing UK, arrival in Ireland (Northern or the Republic), or en route.

It's bound to be a dogs breakfast though and for good reason something deliberately swept under the carpet by 'Bojo the mendacious'

But those brits who have residency cards who really stay in spain less then 6 months from ireland can travel to spain with their residency card and not need to show their passport eg once brits get TIE cards next year

So will those brits who have tie cards post brexit who are actually physically in spain less then 6 months but more then 3 months be refused a renewed tie card since the authorities will know from their passports that they live in spain less then 6 months?
