Hi we are thinking of moving to Almoradi but first we would like to rent out a 2 bed 2 bed property for a few months from January.

My wife has dual nationality of Ireland and Russia and enjoys socialising with other Russian speakers and we wonder if there are other Russian speakers in the area.

We have a 40 year old son that is mildly mentally handicapped and would be interested to know if there any local facilities or clubs our son could join.

Kind regards

Lionel Mannering

Hi Lionel

I can't help you regarding Almoradi, but if you intend to let a property for tourism purposes (short lets) you will need a licence. If you search the forum you'll find lots of information about how to obtain one. Letting without one could result in heavy fines. If you already have a licence my apologies for raising this.

Thanks for your reply Steve but we want to rent a property in Almoradi so we can experience life there for a few months before we buy.

I have heard that there are quite a few Russians in Gran Alacant?

Hello Manny

Almoradi, like many other places, had some flooding last year so tread carefully.    My wife has a degree in Russian and I am sure she would like to socialise.  Jut PM me when you are here.

Hello Richard,

Many tnanks for your reply. We have not as yet made Almoradi a definite destination but one that seemed to be of useful facilities and close enough to the beaches.

We will certainly be making contact with you once our plans are in place and we arrive in the vicinity.

Kind Regards

Manny

hello Lionel

We look forward to meeting you when you arrive.   On another subject, very near where we live is a day unit for adults with limited mental

ability which could suit your son.   The fact that my house is for sale has nothing to do with wishing to help you settle in Spain!

Kind regards

Richard & Elke

Almoradi is a great place to live, friendly locals and a variety of ex.pats. my friend volunteers in a charity shop there and speaks Russian, also some customers too. Lots going on, look for somewhere with heating as it gets very cold in winter.

But the flooding only really affected a small part of Almoradi - many more places around the area were affected much more!   I have lived in Almoradi for 15 years and it is a lovely place to live.
