Hi all,

I have my property insurance over there with La Caixa Bank, and have been trying and failing for the last number of weeks to get through to them, bearing in mind the bank holidays. On account of all this I’m aiming to change insurance companies upon renewal time - November. Can you recommend please a good insurance company, who speak English, and answers the phone!!!

Thanks so much in advance,

Sinéad.

You may find that you've missed the boat as many insurers require two months notice of cancellation.

I fell foul of that having been accustomed to one month notice when living in France.

It's actually one month's notice required these days.

Copied from my email from Right Move Insurance in their Liberty renewal notice

"If you do wish to cancel this policy, we would ask please that you give us at least one week’s notice in writing prior to your renewal date."

Correct, John, some companies are more lenient than others, but the law entitles them to insist on one month's notice if they choose to do so.
