As we are now spending more time in Spain we need to register on the Padron(?)

Can anyone tell me where I do this? We have an apartment in Heredades, Almoradi

What documents I need?

Do I make an appointment?

I've read several bits of information but some of it seems conflicting. I'm ashamed to say my Spanish is very poor so can this be done easily for non Spanish speakers?

Thanks

As far as I know, if you are non resident, you should not be on the Padron.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Kenneth is quite correct. If you're not resident here, then it is illegal to register on the padrón.

But when we applied for our residency we had to produce our padron documents dated within the preceding three months. Seems like different rules apply in different areas.

Sorry, John, I don't understand your point. If you're resident, then you must be on the padrón, and producing that should help with your application for a residency certificate. Some municipalities insist on seeing a residency certificate before they'll register people on the padrón but, by the same token, some will issue a temporary padrón while you're getting your residency status sorted.

It must be that we were issued a temporary padron as we had go back to the Padron Office after we got our residency certificate.

But we've just successfully registered on the Padron in Benitaxell  (thanks to help from Jim and other Forum members on what to do and confirming the Padron is nothing to do with Residency application) and we're not residents! We just plan to spend more than 3 months there in the next year.

We replaced the couple who were already on the Padron who we purchased from and they weren't residents either - British holiday home owners as we are now.

The advice on the GOV.UK website seemed to indicate staying more than 3 months you need a Padron, more than 6 months you need residency

We plan on spending 3 months there April to June next year by which time some of the BREXIT fallout may have settled, and the rules may change?!! I guess we just don't know?!! Muy Confuso!!!

That's how I understood it, more than 3 months you need to register on padron. I'll try again to figure out where to go and how to do it 🤔😕

Thanks for your reply
