Hello Forum members

I'm a resident here in Spain and living in Almoradi. I need to renew my British passport and I'm feeling a little anxious about posting it to the UK to get it done. Is there by any chance somewhere I could renew it in Almoradi or nearby? Or do I have to renew it in the UK and trust the post? Tbh I'm more concerned about the UK postal systems than the post here!!! I'm not likely to be travelling back there any time soon!!! Thanks in advance for any advice :-)

Best wishes Pat

You can do the application online but ultimately you still have to post your old passport back to UK for anything to actually happen.

New passports are sent by courier so you need have no real concerns about that end of the process.

Thanks so much. Presumably that means I'm without my passport for a certain amount of time? Slight concern as I still work in the UK and often at very short notice!

A friend of mine took hers to the Post Room in Benijofar last week and was advised that it could take as much as 12 weeks to receive her new passport due to Covid-19 related backlog.

Kind regards,

Kim

I had an email from GOV.UK informing me of the delay in dealing with my passport application. Unfortunately didn't  indicate the length of time. I used The Post Shop in Villamartin who send and receive the passports.

If you apply online, the Passport Office doesn’t send your new passport via postal service, it comes through DHL.
